What is memory care?
Memory care is a specialized form of care designed to support individuals with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or other cognitive impairments. Our memory care programs at Adava Care provide a structured, secure environment with trained staff, cognitive engagement activities, and personalized daily support.
What is an RCAC (Residential Care Apartment Complex)?
An RCAC is a type of assisted living that offers more independence. Residents live in private apartments and receive assistance with daily tasks as needed, including personal care, medication management, and meal services.
How does assisted living differ from a nursing home?
Assisted living focuses on independence with some assistance in daily tasks, while nursing homes offer round-the-clock medical care for those with serious health conditions. Adava Care's assisted living communities provide a homelike environment with personal care, medication management, and social engagement.
How do I know if assisted living is the right choice?
If you or your loved one need assistance with daily activities but still wish to maintain independence and do not require 24/7 medical supervision, assisted living may be the right choice. Signs include difficulty with bathing, dressing, meal preparation, medication management, or increased social isolation.
What is the process for moving into the community?
After a tour and consultation, a professional assessment is conducted to determine care needs. Our team works with you to create a personalized care plan, coordinate the move-in process, and ensure a smooth transition for your loved one.
What services are included in the monthly fee?
Our monthly fee includes three meals daily plus snacks, housekeeping, laundry, transportation assistance, personal care, and medication management. Additional services may be available based on individual needs.
What amenities are available to residents?
Residents enjoy wellness programs, social activities, outdoor spaces with walking paths, comfortable common areas, private or semi-private rooms, and transportation services. Each location offers unique amenities — contact us or schedule a tour to learn more.
Does Adava Care accept Medicaid?
Many of our locations participate in Wisconsin's long-term care Medicaid programs, including Family Care, IRIS, and the Partnership Program. Because participation and availability can vary by location, we encourage you to call us directly to confirm which programs are accepted at the community you are considering.
What Wisconsin Medicaid programs can help pay for assisted living?
Wisconsin offers several managed long-term care programs funded through Medicaid: Family Care, IRIS (Include, Respect, I Self-Direct), and the Partnership Program. These programs can cover the care and personal support services a resident receives in a CBRF or assisted living community. What does Medicaid cover in an assisted living community?
Wisconsin's Medicaid programs typically cover care services such as personal care, help with daily activities, and medication management. They generally do not cover room and board, meaning the cost of the apartment and meals. Many families use the resident's monthly income, such as Social Security, to cover that portion. How do I start the Medicaid application process for assisted living?

Can my loved one start as a private-pay resident and transition to Medicaid later?
This is one of the most common questions families ask, and the answer depends on the specific location and program. Some of our communities can accommodate this kind of transition; others may have limited capacity for Medicaid-funded spots. We recommend asking about this directly when you schedule a tour or call, so you can plan with confidence from the start.
